purchased, collected, and stolen, although they were not informed of
the origin of the stolen databases.

they needed to compare the entries in each databse with each other so
as to produce an estimated database containing one unique entry for
each person in the world.

their work was then cross-referenced against independent models
trained to predict what people were in the world. the models and the
databases were kept unexposed to each other.
