thinking a little on tree exploration

i don't recall how the beam search code in huggingface works, but i
recall that when i finally got myself to put my head into it, i didn'
tsee all of it, but it was basically just an overly documented
implementation of something intuitive, that cut corners in an
undocumented manner to fit inside expected ram

i've started implementation of alternatives but never managed to see
them all through --
