As I've demonstrated on-list, I'm looking a little into why this is.

I am _guessing_ the following possibilities. it looks to me like the
source of these:
- observes the list
- has some kind of partially-automated system they are developing and
improving to do this, and may be trying different things to see what
happens
- is responding to patterns of irritation, impatience, or a goal of
controlling or influencing others. such as us
- engages other lists than just this one
