And obviously what nobody says in the middle is that people who don't
like money, need it, in order to act in ways that prevent and handle
the harm it causes.

If it feels "wrong" to invest in stocks, you are where the money
should go.  It's okay to invest enough that you might lose, like
buying a lottery ticket.  The key is not to sell until the price goes
up a lot, and to buy multiple things because many go down.
